Abstract This study is conducted in the northern Omdurman area to delineate groundwater potential zones using electrical resistivity method. most ancient city known as historical capital of Sudan. Geoelectric survey employing vertical sounding (VES) technique carried out explore availability area. The measurements were Schlumberger configuration. In this study, twelve VES points are measured along four profiles. data processed and interpreted 1D geophysical inversion constrained by lithological obtained from two boreholes. integration geological led a reliable interpretation model. results revealed that succession mainly composed five layers recent deposits, clay, sandy silicified ferruginous sandstone, sandstone. According resulting hydrogeological sections, water-bearing formation coarse sandstone varies thickness under confined conditions. geoelectrical method successfully fulfilled aims study. Nevertheless, detailed investigations need be for comprehensive characterization aquifer.
